As most of you are probably aware, Volume III arrives on Monday (Tuesday morning for us) which means that we will soon have a new episode. Fortunately Matthrim has already been wandering around on Bullroarer so he already has an idea of what to expect with the new book which means I can push on them to record the Episode sooner so that we can get it out faster.
Keep your fingers crossed on that one.

The first book of Volume 3, gets a European release on Tuesday afternoon. There is no advance download available, so we'll all just have to queue and wait on the LOTRO game update service. For those who are impatient, there is a fairly indepth preview over at the "Massively" website. It does contain a lot of spoilers, so please be aware before viewing.

Now the patch notes and developer diaries for this new book have been available for a while, so it is no secret that book 1 is set in existing areas of Middle Earth. Although the content looks intersting, it is adding more of the same and expanding current features, rather than providing something radically new. As ever, I'm sure the community will be quick to express its opinion via the offical US and European forums.

Since I’m sure we are all eagerly waiting for Volume III, Book 1 to hit on Monday, I thought I’d give you a heads-up on what jewelry to get once servers are up. Aside from new patterns and whatnot, there are also changes going into effect for the level 60 teal jewelry pieces (Sublime Rose and Glowing Aureate). There are now multiple versions of these items, tailored to specific roles. For the full listing of them, see this post on the official forums.

For Lore-masters particularly, there are some great changes. Let’s break it down by jewelry slot. I have only included here those which are itemized for casters.

In case you haven’t made your patch day plans, Massively has a pretty good walkthrough of all the new things coming with the latest update. as they continue their weekly feature “On the road to Mordor.”  Be warned, there are some spoilers in there :) as they describe some of the epic storyline and the new Rift skirmish.  But there’s also information about the upcoming festival and it looks like once again they’ve come up with another fun game!  I mean not only to do you get to stomp shrews, but you have a chance to win a huge shrew lawn ornament!

Certainly some nice information, including screenshots, and I’m again looking forward to this upcoming Spring festival which starts in a couple weeks.

You have fought you way into the evil Necromancer's castle of Dol Guldur, battled orcs and fouls spirits until you break into the vast hall of Gorothul, chief sorceror of Barad Guldur and sole possessor (when he remembers) of the priceless Symbol of Celebrimbor. Gorothul's voice is softly sinister, and he conjures up legions of spirits and animated corpses to destroy you, though the fact that he looks the spitting image of Ming the Merciless does give you pause for a second.

As you fight for your life (and a slim chance of acquiring the aforementioned Symbol of Celebrimbor, an artifact of immense value), you ears are battered by a steady beating sound. Glancing up for a second you see, through the dim glass of the vast windows rising up either side of the dread altar, two Nazgûl riding the great fell beasts whose flapping wings echo through the hall. When, with luck, Gorothul finally goes down to his just reward and you have discovered that once again the priceless Symbol of Celebrimbor has failed to drop, your attention may be caught by a strange discrepancy: while the fell beast seen through the south window is beating his wings energetically, rising and falling as he does, his fellow to the north is doing - well, nothing very much. He is in fact barely holding position right at the bottom of the window, listlessly twitching his wings now and again.
