Today while browsing the world wide interwebs I found myself watching a video of a Russian LOTRO Server. The video was titled "LOTRO, Creeps in Forochel" and can be viewed on theLOTRONetwork.com or on YouTube. The video title immediately threw up a flag for me. Lets go over a little back story here.

Forochel is the region just north of Evendim. The snowy, ice covered bay is best known for its involvement with Volume I, Book 14. The area contains many mobs and a few very cool small dungeons and caves that are a real treat to explore. The zone has only one entrance from the south which means its "landlocked" you could say.

10 day trial

I was prompted to write this commentary due to two reasons. Firstly, the relatively high profile promotion that Turbine is pursuing at present to attract new customers to LOTRO. When I installed new ATI drivers yesterday it left a desktop icon for "10 days free". Secondly, as a direct result of this weeks new content release.

I do not consider myself a hardcore gamer, but then again, I do not fall into the "casual" demographic. I had several consoles during the 90's and then moved onto PC gaming. I then went online with "Unreal Tournament" in 1999 and ran a custom clan server for "Hidden & Dangerous 2" during 2004. In December 2008 I picked up a copy of SoA & MoM combo pack for £20. I was surprised to see that the game would run on my Dell P4, 2GB RAM, ATI Radeon X800, so I bought it. Due to my lifestyle, I had plenty of time to play the game and soon made it one of my foremost leisure activities.

jewlery Our good friend Adam (El-Galandir) sent us this link to Updated Jewelry Recipes for Volume III: Book 1 and boy was he right when he told us it’s an awesome site. It’s a great way to quickly look and compare the jewelry options available including the multi-output recipes. It allows sorting to try to narrow down to just the pieces your interested in. It really is pretty stinking handy.

Crafters always appreciate it when you come to them knowing exactly what you want and can even offer some of the materials they need. The worst kind of customer is the guy who says “ I need a new ring, what can you make?” I can make all sorts of stuff but what do you need?

A Casual Stroll to Mordor Blog & Podcast We were contacted today asking for a banner image that could be put on a kin web site so they could link to us that way. I have to say I feel a little silly having not thought of this before. I guess I figured why the heck would anyone link to us?

This problem has been remedied as I have quickly created some banner images of various sizes for you to add to your kin site, blog or wherever if you so desire.

Each week we ask you to share your successes in Middle Earth with the rest of the community. Post a comment letting us know what you’ve accomplished this past week. We will pick comments at random to read on the podcast giving you a chance for a little shout out for yourself!

We only ask you follow these simple rules:

  1. Don’t forget to add your character name, what server you play on and if you like, add your Kinship if you have one.
  2. Please keep your posts brief. We won’t be able to read full novels of your adventures. At least make it so we can easily sum it up!
  3. Do not be afraid to post any of your achievements. We don’t care if you just saved Archet or cleared out Dol Guldor. We want to hear from you!

We really like this latest feature to the podcast but it is still very new so if you have comments or suggestions on improving things please let us know!
