As usual, the Warden boards of late have been filled with quite a few really good posts, so I wanted to make sure everyone saw them.  And at the bottom, there’s a pretty good in-game champ quote that I couldn’t resist re-posting ;)

The first post is centered around Warden DPS, not that we should ever be mistaken for a DPS class but what’re some ways to get a higher output.  Long post short, trait spear line, high might, high melee offense rating/critical rating, and good legacies on your weapons.  Personally I am leaning towards having some DPS weapons as opposed to just tanking ones as it is easier, quicker, and cheaper to swap weapons then it is to completely re-trait.  Also a refresher on what good DPS rotations are, which essentially are the spear line gambits ;)

After that, we go to our main role of tanking.  The first post primarily discusses the difference between the Fist line and the Shield line and when each are preferred.  The thread does start with the excitement over Perceived Threat being recently fixed, which does make the First line more viable.  The general consensus is that Shield is slightly better for the overall healing abilities but there are cases (BG for one) when you won’t be using your HoTs and there’s lots of –threat debuffs tossed around – making the Fist line pretty appealing.  Following a similar line of thought there’s a thread on setups for BG which not only follows the trait line from above, but also has some good ideas for BG in general.  If you’re a Warden planning to run BG, I’d highly recommend those posts and probably a conversation or 2 with a couple of the posters there that have actually run that raid.  And actually, there’s some good tanking posts in those the would be of use for everyone running that raid.

Sorry, still no screenshots. Too busy installing and playing all these games to remember to take screenshots then upload them anywhere. I’ll do it next time! (That’s probably what I said last time, right?)

In the MMO Department, I’ve installed the obvious: LOTRO because I’m a Lifetime member and it’s “home” then Age of Conan because I kept my subscription active the past few months and *gasp* the game has come a long way since beta; it’s quite a blast now, and a shame more bloggers aren’t coming back to it.

I took Longasc’s advice and turned DX10 back on in LOTRO but disabled the dynamic shadows. Honestly, I can’t tell it from DX9 like that, but I’m sure there must be some differences somewhere that I’m missing.

Hi Everyone,

It’s been forever since I’ve updated this blog and for good reason: I’ve got my own domain! You can follow me and my thoughts on LotRO over at Game by Night. I write about several different games these days (LotRO is still my main MMO) and I’d appreciate seeing you move your subscriptions over to the greener pasture. Thanks for stopping by!

trollRecently, there was a post on the forums that although atypical for the LOTRO forums (as far as my experience goes) is fairly typical for most gaming forums; especially MMO’s.  How is it typical?  Well, for those of you who do not want to pollute your mind with meaningless drama and crud, I’ll go into a somewhat brief description.

The title is “@Orion” and the message is simply, “How goes the North Down’s revamp.”  For those who don’t know, this was answered in a blog post by Orion in late January, stating that he is no longer working on the North Down’s revamp and has been moved to other projects.  Once informed of the situation by another player, the author responded with the single-word reply  “Fail” .  However, once Orion actually responds to this post,  the post is hijacked by those who begin to discuss how the game is awful, how it’s changing from its original design, how nothing is good anymore, that people are leaving in droves, and basically that everything is poop.  When others fire back that they do not share the same views and that perhaps those complaining should find a different game, some of those complaining use the justification of how they love the game and wouldn’t spend all this time telling everyone how much it sucked if they didn’t.  Bull-poopy.

LOTRO pdf

Brunop has compiled this rather useful guide that details all the specifics of the epic quests in LOTRO. It covers all of volume I and up to book 6 of volume II. The single PDF is available for download via the link below. At 0.3MB this is not a major download :)
