Beta participants should check their email as Turbine is sending out an email that offers beta players an additional 500 Turbine Points to spend in the Store.

Also, as a LOTRO Beta participant this summer, you also receive a point code for additional 500 Turbine Points.

Beta Participant Turbine Point codes expire October 31, 2010.

There is also a special for Turbine Points Bundle available for opening weekend where you can pay $49.99 for 6,900 Turbine Points. Since 100 TP is approximately a dollar this is 1,900 more points than you would typically get for that price. This offer ends on September 12th.

The Premium Experiment: Day 1 and done!

I decided to log onto my Warden Lansirel. She is in her 30s and well into Evendim at this point. I was concerned because I knew logging onto this toon would give me Turbine Points for the new deeds that are auto-completed. Fortunately, I only ended up with 20 total TP. That wasn’t enough to buy anything with.

Lansirel had been left in Nain Enidh after a Garth Agarwen run gone bad. I had to get back to Evendim and quest some more. Getting there became a big problem.

The Premium Experiment: Day 1, The Shire

That lovely Hobbit is Honeymeade. She is a Burglar on the Brandywine server and my Premium Experiment toon. Honeymeade was left at level 9. This way I could level her through the areas as a Premium account player and not have anything buffed up like deeds finished, etc. I also did not log into my higher level toons since the new deeds are completed and have been turned into Turbine Points.

I began in The Shire. My quests were simple enough. All of the starting zone quests I am more than familiar with. I did notice an extra skill Burglar’s have now. That’s all part of what happened in beta. To confirm I had no Turbine Points to start with, I checked the LotRO Store. Nno points.

Alright! I received several questions regarding the captain class and the changes to the captain in Volume 3: Book 2. As the king among captains, I’ll gladly answer.

Merric asks:

Considering the changes that we’re seeing with Captains with Free-to-Play do you think that Turbine is attempting to make Heralds more attractive in higher-level content.  If so, do you think that they will be good enough to use over Standards in dungeons?  What about raids?  If you don’t think that they appear to be attractive enough for raiding and dungeons, what would you suggest to Turbine in order to make them a more viable option in end-game content?

Before I got into this journalism thing, I was a drama major. I’ve done a couple of musicals (even though I have the dancing skill of a couple of broken brooms duct-taped together) and directed plays. Theatre teaches you the true meaning of deadlines.

As I’ve told nervous actors time and time again: there is this fixed moment (let’s say Friday, September 10, at 8 ‘o clock) when the curtain rises. This is an immutable fact. Some stage hand will pull a cord and the audience will see whatever it is that you’ve worked on for all those months.
