Today marks the day that A Casual Stroll to Mordor put up their very first blog post. We started CSTM as a small project with Merric and I posting when we could to a site with a wide variety of writers and contributors of all talents helping us make us what we are today.

This is our very special episode 100 and CSTM is also celebrating 2 years with the LOTRO community! Our blog opened on August 11, 2009 and our first podcast episode launched on September 2, 2009.

4th Anniversary Review

Again, we on the old side of the pond got the worse deal. Turbine listened to the complains of the players about the huge grind for the tokens and added them in the lotteries which Codemasters is not able/willing to offer.

I wanted to have the maps, so I knew I had to grind 160 tokens (8*20). As I didn't wan to waste too much time, I triple-boxed the bar-fight. Of course, this works only during the night, as there is less competition.

So this Easter weekend, I had little sleep, at least at night. Which was a pity, as the weather was fine. But at least I got the maps and as they are tradable, this will get me closer to the deed Cartographile.

Clarification on the New Anniversary Tokens

In case you haven’t been checking up on the forums, I just wanted to comment on the posts from Sapience on the Anniversary tokens.  It appears that they’re quite content with how this works but have and are adding in various lotteries for the horse anniversary tokens, in addition to the gift box tokens.  If you’re not sure about which tokens drop from where, Sapience clarified that as well.

Happy 4th Anniversary LOTRO

Today kicked off the anniversary celebration events running until May 2nd, head over to TGN-Stratics for the details but the big items for me:

  • The bar fight is back!  Who doesn’t like smacking their friends around with big clubs
  • Token turn-ins are back as mob drops
    • always interesting items from them
  • And there’s a new mount which I’ll admit I’m not totally sold on, but I will still be getting it.  Shouldn’t be too bad, just some mob grinding and running the races a couple of times.
  • I’m not completely sure we’ve seen everything they have in mind but we shall see.  Worst case, we know there’s the upcoming patch.
