According to CSTM’s readers choice, the next cake challenge was to make a cake evoking the swan boats of Lothlorien. According to Tolkien, Lady Galadriel and the elves of the Golden Woods are using these to sail the Anduin. It is then no surprise we see those beautiful piece of art in the game as well. Here’s the final result, based o the design we can admire in-game, but adapted to be an actual cake!

Of course, when we talked about kids and CSTM, I just had to make a cake. This one is pretty different from the two first I previously created ( Keg Cake and Baby Hobbit Hole) because instead of impersonating an object, it’s definitely more of a traditional cake. Here is how I made it happen, you know the drill!

Of course, a birthday party is not a birthday party if there’s not a cake in the portrait. One could also argue that the same goes for booze. Since we tend to agree with both views, I’m happy to present you the Keg Cake.

CSTM Birthday Cake

After the epic construction of a Hobbit Hole, the Keg Cake was my second attempt at cake decoration. I generally followed the same steps, and learned a few new things along the way.

Last month Kia made a fabulous Baby Hobbit’s First Hole cake that we loved. Kia is looking for some feedback on what special cake she should attempt to make next.

She has four options for you to chose from and also will accept other suggestions. Three of the items can be found in game and she provided screenshots for you to get an idea of what she’s envisioning.

I’ve had some important chats with some people. Cryptic, but it cleared some air and made a few things better.

We killed the Watcher for the first time last night, on 3rd attempt I think. I had a few problems with the first attempt, so that fail was pretty much my fault and solved the next time around by some tweaking. Felt good to get him down. Not as good as Balrog, but we’d probably invested more in the Balrog. But in terms of killing a ‘big bad’ and avenging Bill the Pony, it felt good.

We’re spending more time with the Blind One in DN (I don’t think he’s truly blind), I feel we’re on the verge of cracking it, but just depends how long the other bosses take us to kill and how tired we are by the time we get there. DN doesn’t feel as fun as the Rift and while I could probably justify why in some aspects, I’m not sure about others. Still, we’re progressing and even pre-BO fights are getting smoother and faster.
