Tim “Raskolnikov” Lang has a new dev diary out today about the changes they are making to the character panel. I don’t know about you but I really enjoy Tim’s dev diaries. They seem to really include how they came to the conclusion that they did and all the plans (even ones that didn’t work).
The goal of the character panel revamp is really simplify the look so it didn’t look so busy and pretty daunting for new players. In the current character panel everything from equipment, to skills, to mounts and housing is all lumped together in one screen. I suppose that’s very handy if you know where everything is but pretty nuts if you’re trying to figure things out.

This poll question was suggested by Ketani because of how we briefly discussed her character’s name Ehefkae (AFK) and if it was lore appropriate in episode 35.
This poll is discussing the same thought process of what your opinion is about non-lore names in-game.

Today saw the release of a new Developer Diary by Brian “Zombie Columbus” Aloisio (ZC for short), concerning the upcoming Skill Upgrades that we’ll see in Volume 3, Book 1. I have to say, that within the opening paragraph I was interested to find some interesting inferences as to why we’re seeing skill upgrades instead of entirely new skills.

Posted today by Sapience is a warning to “Protect Your Account”. There are have been more news about gaming accounts being hacked lately and Turbine is urging you to take steps to keep your account yours.
The warning serves to all your games as these attacks aren’t focusing on LOTRO but there has been a general rise in game hacks across the industry so you folks playing more than one MMO may want to take steps to protect all your accounts.

So, I don’t think I quite realized how much of an undertaking this was going to be when I first started this project. The problem is that I already had some characters near or at 20, so I figured it wasn’t a big deal. However, last night as I was moving characters into our new kinship, I realized just how big the project actually is; and that’s with one character sitting at 42 and two more characters on the way! All I can say is… whew, this has been a challenge. But, I’m not ready to throw in the towel just yet. So here goes the breakdown:

One common misunderstanding the players have about role-players is that required of you to learn to medieval speech in order to role-play. Using thee and thou and all sorts of special speech in order to fit in.
I’m here to tell you that your character does not have to talk like this to role-play. You most certainly can speak this way if you wish to, but most role-players will accept normal speech for role-play.

These tips are intended for people new to role-play and not certain where to start. Role-play is open and ever changing. Everyone has their own way of playing and these tips can help get you started in finding your own RP style.
A large epic novel is most definitely not required for you to start role-playing your character. You can build your character’s personality traits and story as you go along. You never stop losing and gaining new quirks as you age, your character should grow and change as well.
Start out with simple things. Figure out the likes and dislikes of your character, where they are from, or how they look. These are easy personality traits to explain and to role-play. It also gives others a glimpse of what your character is like.
