We received the following email with pictures of the Codemasters final party from Aaron of the Evernight server and thought it would be fun to share while our EU friends are waiting to be migrated. If you have any pictures to share, join our Flickr group and post them up for all to enjoy!
Hello CSTM,
My Name is Aaron and I play on the Evernight Server in the EU, and I listen to your blog and podcasts every week, it really is the highlight of my Sunday (because I’m GMT I can’t listen to you live
) Keep up the great work. This week was the Codemaster migration and thanks to your site myself and my kinship found out just in time, we all thank you for that.
On May 31st the GM’s held a party outside the Prancing Pony, it really was a sad because we wouldn’t see them in there GMiness ever again, but it was fun because we had music, fireworks and a cute Hobbit couple playing music and dancing for everyone dancing for everyone this instantly made me think of Goldenstar and Merric. So I have attached some pictures of the party.

Yesterday evening a group of LOTRO players on the Gilrain server, gathered for a final ride through Eriador to mark the ending of the European service run by Codemasters. Organised by Thorebane, it was well attended with the group exceeding 70 + players at one point. Now I'm not particularly sentimental. I went along mainly out of curiosity and to see how the server coped with the volume of traffic in specific locations. I have fond memories of the great Mirkwood charge across the Anduin, back in December 2009.

We have such generous and wonderful fans here at CSTM and to prove it Yogho from the Civillian Army of the Lowlands Kinship on Laurelin [EU-RP] server has donated to CSTM not one but two codes for LOTRO Shadows of Angmar for the Codemasters service.
This falls under the same urgency as the Mines of Moria giveaway as these codes will not work after the migration to the Turbine Global Service so you must use them soon to activate them! According to Maneki on the Codemasters German forums that codes must be used by May 30th (thank you Falebrindor for that link).

I received the following email from Codemasters last night. Initially I thought, this is a bit late in coming, then I considered some wider implications. Not every EU LOTRO player uses the forums or regularly visits fan based websites. We have players in our kinship who only log on occasionally due to real life commitments and can go for months without being seen. It is therefore more than likely that a considerable amount of the EU LOTRO player base may still be unaware of the transition to Turbine's Global Service.
This raises the question, exactly how long will the migration window be? People have tried to theorize based on previous migrations such as DDO and Archlord. There was a very interesting post on the EU forums concerning the latter:

It has been a couple weeks since the announcement of the Turbine Global Service coming starting June 1st. Folks most affected by this are our friends currently on Codemasters servers and are wondering how all this will play out.

Yesterday evening I noticed that the EU LOTRO forums were unavailable. A few hours later I checked again, only to find them still offline. As the LOTRO forums are merely a subset of the entire Codemasters forums I tried to see if I could access any other material. Everything was conspicuously absent. So I nosed around on the internet to see if there was any news relating to this. As per usual, there were rumours in circulation ranging from DOS attacks to corporate sabotage. All of which seemed both silly and implausible. However in light of the recent PlayStation Network security issues, all possibilities were being considered with a little less scepticism than usual.
At approximately 13:00 GMT today the forum came back online. Everything appears to be in order and normal activities (mainly complaining) resumed. However, there were no specific details on the EU LOTRO forums but after some searching, the following statement was discovered in another tier of the forum hierarchy. It is brief but succinct. I would urge regular users to read it and consider it's ramifications.
