The silence from Codemasters is deafening right now. There is a thread now 193 pages long in the EU forums, mostly containing very upset players. The most upsetting thing is not the delay in itself, but the lack of communication from Codemasters, which has lead to a number of different theories on why there is a delay in the first place. Since I am a subscriber, and will let my account just roll into VIP when (if?) F2P comes, i don’t really care that much about the delay. Sure, it would be nice to see the new area, but it’ll come eventually anyway. We did get the welcome back week, at least until recently, and that gave me the perfect opportunity to power-level my Warden.
The Warden class is really cool to play, for several reasons. First of all, there’s a lot of gambits, and even if they can be hard to remember at times, it’s a fun way to test out different ways to play. All the self-healing and morale-leeching gambits really help when taking on high-morale bosses, and the DPS on the spear-gambits actually isn’t that bad. Sure, a Warden can’t keep up with the traditional DPS-classes when it comes to DPS, but for a tank, it’s outstanding. I have now hit 44 on my Warden, and I’m planning on moving into Eregion very soon, first of all to collect the last pages for my book-deeds, but also to get ready for Moria.

Finally!
Since most players in my kin (including myself) is casual players it can be quite hard to get a good group for the 6 and 12-man instances in LOTRO, but yesterday we did get a nice group to do Sammath Gûl. It was my first time and I really liked it.
It also meant i could now get my final rad-piece and I’m now ready for the greater challenges ahead. I also got the Bregloch earring, which sadly enough is really nice compared to my other crappy jewelery, I really have to do something about that.
Besides SG there has been a lot of deed-grinding going on for me lately. Trying to get those virtues up a notch, and fixing my legendary traits. My Hunter is now actually starting to look like a pretty solid build and all I really need is some new jewelery. A second or first age bow would also be nice of course, but my third age will be fine for now.

Shortly before closing down MMeOw, I put together my own map to the Flowers of the Old Forest deed. There are a few of these floating around, but I went ahead with it anyway. For those not familiar, this deed requires you to find several flowers scattered throughout the Old Forest. Doing quests in the Old Forest, you’ll likely run across a few of these. Finding the rest isn’t exactly a cup of tea, unfortunately, as many are in areas you really don’t have any need to visit.
The map below gives the locations and names of all of the flowers you need to find: Nedorlas, Braiglad, Lenhwest, Silloth, Merillif, Dorollin, Cordofoneth and Rhosthon. I didn’t bother with coordinates, as I think this is easy enough. If you have trouble finding one, you can press “Delete” on your keyboard to select usable that is nearest item to your character.

Read Deeds and Traits Part 1 here.
Of all the traits in LOTRO, I think that Virtues are perhaps the most confusing. With the different ranks, and the deeds that must be completed to increase the ranks, it makes for a pretty complex system.
Virtues themselves are traits that increase attributes and/or resistances. They all have 3 values: Primary, secondary and tertiary values. For example, Discipline has a primary value that affects your Might (+3 at rank 1), a secondary value that increases your disease resist rating (+203 at rank 1) and a tertiary rating effect of increasing melee defense rating (+200 at rank 1).

I’ve been playing LOTRO for about a year and a half now, but I’m not what I would call and avid player. I definitely fall into the casual player column, and I am not an experiences gamer in general. This is my third MMO, and third computer game for that matter. So lets just say, it’s been a long, steep learning curve for me! It’s taken me a while to understand the more advanced aspects of gaming. I can run around and kill stuff, and complete quests, I can manage crafting and even sell stuff on the auction house from time to time. But as far as stats went, I was at a loss. When we first started playing, I levelled a Hunter up to 31. Then we took a break, and when I came back to the game, I made another Hunter and started all over again. I even took the same crafting skill so I would know what I was doing to some degree!

This site gets a lot of searches related to the Old Forest flower deed. Nowadays you kids have it easy. Back when I had to first worry about this, I had to run around with 2 wolves, 3 bats, a bear, several spiders and some evil trees on my tail. We didn’t even have a detailed map! But I digress …
I thought it would be helpful to put together a map of the flower locations (Nedorlas, Braiglad, Lenhwest, Silloth, Merillif, Dorollin, Cordofoneth, Rhosthon). I didn’t bother with coordinates, as I think this is easy enough. I’ve labeled by name, which should be helpful for those of you with a few flowers leftover.

Ok, so I’ve tried every class in LOTRO except burg, and with my Hunter now at 65, I had to choose wich alt to level up.
Not an easy decision, but one that had to be made. I finally picked my Captain (at level 28 at the time). The Captain is an awesome class to play. Solo play is great fun, and quite easy as long as you don’t start hitting the red mobs. In a fellowship you are extremely adaptable, being able to both tank and heal, or just DPS.
I have now hit 38, and I’m taking a break from levelling to complete som low-level-area deeds. I’ve already finished up everything i Bree-land, almost everything in the Shire, and am now working on the deeds in Ered Luin. After that, I’ll go through the lone Lands and North Downs finishing deeds before I resume the hunt for 65.

I have been working on my class/race deeds a lot recently. In a bit of a ‘duh’ moment, I finally realized that completing them can actually yield quite beneficial traits, so I started using my deed-increasing abilities/songs like crazy.
One problem. The mobs kept dying too quickly for me to use some of my gated abilities, because I kept smacking them with my mace on auto-attack. I really wanted to figure out how to turn off auto-attack, so I could use my songs only. If you too would like to pound on bad guys for just a little bit longer before they kick off, you are in luck! Go to Options, Key Mapping, Miscellaneous. The first option under Misc is “Toggle Auto-Attack”. Click it to select a key combination to use to toggle auto-run on and off. I chose Alt-A.
You have to attack a mob first, and then toggle Auto-Attack off. However, this option is a bit quirky in that as soon as you hit the mob with a ability, song, or attack, Auto-Attack reenables itself, so you have to keep toggling it back off during the fight. Therefore, it’s not as useful an option as it could be (or as I’d like it to be!), but if a mob is just about dead and you are just waiting a few more seconds for a cooldown to end on an ability that you really want to use, and if you can afford to get bashed on for those few moments while you wait, it can be quite useful. I guess you just need to use this option strategically and intelligently.

When you’re in a kinship you can sometimes find it difficult to get done the things you would like to do because you spend a lot of your time helping others. This can get frustrating for anyone but I think it becomes especially frustrating for the casual player who’s time is quite limited.
I’m not complaining. For the most part I do what I would like with my game time and if I decide to help someone, it’s because I choose to, not because I feel compelled or even forced to. This has come about after years of being the helpful person always stuck finishing other people’s goals. It starts to wear you down after a while. Helping others finish their goals while you look at what you need to complete gathering dust starts to feel more like a chore than the cheery helper you started out as.
I like to help. Helping others feels good and you get to hang out with friends and sometimes meet new people. Nothing wrong with helping and I think that you should do it whenever you can. But when helping others interferes with your personal goals, what do you do? Where do you draw the line?
