He starts off explaining that the main goal for the Epic Story is to visit as many of the “most exciting places” within Middle-earth,

dunland_landscape_04Did you think that the Developer Diaries were over?  Well, frankly so did we. However, proving us wrong yesterday saw the release of a Developer Diary containing information about Dunland itself by Jessie “Vastin” King.

So what is Dunland you may ask and why did the expansion take us there?

draigoch_08Another Developer Diary has been released; this time focused on Draigoch, the dragon who is the boss of Rise of Isengard’s new 12/24-man raid.

The diary states that one of the most important features of Draigoch was his physical aspect.  Turbine’s goal was to make him large, but at the same time to create a fight that didn’t seem a bit silly in its nature:

lotro_isgd_group_nightJared “Kelsen” Pruett has delivered one of the first of apparently several PvMP themed Developer Diaries concerning changes to the system in the Rise of Isengard.  This post specifically focuses on the changes to the Free People’s side (Freeps) and what players can expect once the expansion is released.

First up, there have been some changes in Freep Quests in order “to help remove some of the hurdles involved in PvMP progression…”

class guardianKen “Graalx2” Burd released the Guardian Developer Diary for the Rise of Isengard expansion today, and I have to say I enjoy most of the changes.  As someone whose “main” character is a Guardian, I’ve been eager to see what changes would make it in comparison to their previous announcement earlier this year.

Overall, Ken believes that Guardians are in a “good place” right now and I’d tend to agree.  I think Guardians are a good, solid class that do well as tanks.  However, when it comes to DPS I would like to see them bumped up a little.  This is not so that they can compete necessarily with Hunters, Champions and Rune-keepers, but instead offer them as a viable DPS fill-in when more than one tanking class joins a group.

Allan “Orion” Maki released today the Developer Diary for Champions for the Rise of Isengard expansion (and boy is it a long one at that).  There are quite a lot of changes for the class including the before mentioned shield-less tanking, the removal of the healing penalty, and the shaping of Ardour into a “… power conserving AoE stance,”.  But don’t worry, for those who fear they might log into their Champions one day and not recognize the class, Orion has this to say:

English_DD_headerIf you remember, we discussed a previous dev diary about how player Stats were going to change with the release of The Rise of Isengard expansion.  Today, The LOTRO Systems Team has released another diary about Itemization (the creating and distribution of items throughout the game).

Starting off, the Systems Team initially saw two “root concerns” which were the cause of the problems that they face when itemizing the game.

class guardianToday Orion posted what Graalx2 has been working on with Guardians in Isengard. The main reason for the delay seems to have been that Graalx2 wanted to get the stat changes posted first; that way he’d have more of a foundation for the changes we were seeing with the Guardian class. I would have to agree with him since some of the changes that he made fall pretty much in line with the stat changes that we talked about yesterday.

www.casualstrolltomordorIn the first of a series of blog posts about future class changes, Orion follows up on his earlier preview of the Champion revisions and offers a deeper look at the changes he had previously mentioned earlier in the week.  Most of the major changes that he mentions circle around the stances of Ardour and Glory; although there is a brief look at Fervour which should only see minor changes.
