Our very own Punggo asks:
How would you rank the lvl-50 dungeons on a scale of 1-10 according to difficulty? I have an alt nearing 50 who may have a good group to run dungeons with, unlike my first two toons I took past 50.

A set of fair and well-enforced rules help build a structure for your raid that helps keep people on the same page and will do well in earning you the respect you need to do your job effectively.
This is the second part in the series on leading a raid. See Part 1 on Communication if you missed it.
Guidelines for Fair Rules

The “Alternative Methods” guide set is aimed at presenting different ways to fill the basic roles/needs in any group or instance without use of either the normal class/roll or method. My goals with these set of suggestive guides are to break people of the “You have to have classes A, B, C, D and 2 others” mentality as well as offer suggestions of how to use skills and mechanics more aggressively in the logic of the best defense is a killer offense.
The classes in this game are far more flexible than some realize and there are a lot more possible class combinations that can work through content just fine. Break this mind set and you may find new fun and challenges in your everyday LotRO gaming.

Released today was the Developer Diary by jwbarry concerning instance “re-vamps” that we’ll be seeing with the upcoming Free-to-Play (F2P) changes later this year. So what can we take away from this part of the discussion?
As we were aware, some dungeons are being re-designed to work in a similar fashion to skirmishes. They will be able to be scaled by level (not by group size, though). But why do this kind of revamp in the first place?

The biggest key in raid success and especially in succeeding as a raid leader is communication. Everything from basic rules and strategy to who needs to go AFK and when needs to be communicated. If nobody knows anything because nothing has been communicated then the raid will inevitably fail and the leader will have failed as a leader.
In the topic of communication we’ll be covering the following subtopics: Quality Voice Software, “Keeping the Air Clean”, “Setting the Table” and Troubleshooting.

So before we begin this End Game Guide I’d like to first off apologize to my readers for the stupidly long wait between part I and part II. A few personal things came into play and I was forced to take a small sabbatical from finishing this article. So lets get down into it shall we?

First things first! This Part II will not be as numbers based or as technically versed as Part I, and there is a very good reason for that. Guides that put people on a "Track" of sorts, only giving them the information they need to complete the task at hand forces players to work almost perfectly to the guides specifications. No two groups are the same; no two players play the same way. For this reason, I’ve decided to write this in a way that will help you to understand the reasons that things are done a certain way, instead of just telling you how to do it step by step.

Way back in Episode 23 we talked to Turbine developers Zombie Columbus, JWBarry and Raskolnikov about skirmishes. A small part of that super long podcast we talk about area effect traps which we called “Standing in the Poop”.
You know the AOE fire patch, pool of slime, the wall of lava, etc, that appears you’re too busy tanking/killing/healing/helping to notice you’re the one standing in it and dying. Everyone else is rolling their eyes telling you “OMG how could you not see the giant pool of fiery liquid on your feet!” or “The boss did warn us saying ‘Burn You Fools’ before it appeared. How did you miss that?”
Well thanks to an email from frequent commentor Stormwaltz, you may be able to say that it’s not your fault! But first I’m going to make you run through the same test he sent to me.

Sapience has very helpfully stepped in to clear up some confusion from the articles and information we’ve gotten this week via E3 interviews from Massively and Ten Ton Hammer as well as the LOTRO Store screenshots released earlier this week.

I just wanted to share the new post that just went up on Massively about Volume 3 Book 2 Preview of Enedwaith. Some really good information here that speaks directly to some questions our commenters were asking from the latest screenshots such as there will be no gear in the LOTRO Store. There’s also some insight as to how the new regions will be split up for the a-la-cart folks to purchase.
Listed as included in our upcoming fall V3B2 patch:

EGGuides (End Game Guides) is a new mini-project I’m doing to keep players involved and interested in End Game content. Feel free to let me know if you’d like to help out or get involved!
This guide may be old news to some of you, but to others the Sword-Hall of Dol Guldur is still a challenging and new experience waiting to be conquered! For this reason I’ve taken the time to break this Small Fellowship Instance down into an easy to read guide. This guide will be posted in Two Parts. Each part will cover an aspect of the instance challenge from Preparation to Boss Fight Strategy.
- Part I: Brief Overview, Group Composition, Preparation, Arena Layout and Knowing Your Enemy
- Part II: Strategy and Boss Fights
