Sapience has posted on the forums the following which I think will be very good news to the folks worried about paying for the next set of instances releasing after Rise of Isengard:

We are currently preparing five new instances for release post Isengard.

Rise of Isengard will be released on September 27 along with a 24 Player raid. There will be 3 Three player, 1 Six player and 1 Twelve player instance released in Update 5, the first update after the release of Rise of Isengard. These instances will be free to any player who has pre-purchased the Rise of Isengard expansion or who purchases after launch via the Turbine Web Store.

I had checked the store on Bullroarer for any new cosmetics (for the record, I didn’t find any) but it hadn’t even crossed my mind to check the skirmish vendors.

Luckily Devonna at LOTRO Stylist blog did check the the skirmish vendor and found some new cosmetics that are tied to the two new dungeons.

Inn of the Forsaken

3 new cloaks available that cost 156 skirmish marks and 1 Inn of the Forsaken mark each.

This was an email we received from one of Merric and my kinmates, Rufidoc of Landroval. He asked if it was ok to send submissions like this in for CSTM and I thought that there would certainly be folks out there who would love to read his poem!

A couple of nights ago, members of the Council of the Secret Fire assaulted the black walls of Carn Dum, This is their tale…

POI_CarnDum2The night was dark and cold and grim,
In black Iron-home; the land of sin.
To hunt, to slay the Angarim,
Six kin went in, six kin went in.

Bullroarer: Five New Instances

The Echoes of the Dead update will have five new instances. There is one new raid, two small fellowship and two full fellowship instances. The areas are tied to the Mysterious Relic locations.

Unfortunately, I don’t have my level 65 on Bullroarer and I’m unable to enter any of these new dungeons and two of them were too difficult for my bullroarer character to even get to. To add to the difficulty, I asked Merric to login to take photos with his level 65 and his character refuses to load. At least I can say I honestly tried. They seriously need to wipe the servers…

Here are photos I was able to obtain and links to photos Bryandt was nice enough to share in our patch notes post. Feel free to share photos of your own as well! You can click on the images I do have to get a bigger view of the entrance!

Why Radiance Removal is Good

The arguments have grown fierce since Moria hit:

Ah Raiding, that most exalted form of MMO gamming. But such a desirable end game must be restricted to only those who are worthy and have put their time in. Everyone knows, if you’re not raiding, you don’t need the good gear, right? Go back to care-bear quest land and RP some tears. Devs, make more content for us. VS Why does every MMO cater to these snobby gear driven raiders. The Devs make it so only live-in-the-basement no-lifes can get the gear needed to go to the end game raids and get the even better gear. They will just rush to end-game for their precious gear and then logout for months till the next expansion anyway. Devs, make more content for us.

Maybe I was blind or naïve, but I never saw these (slightly embellished) arguments during SOA. Raid content seemed to be for everyone.

Fogsong asks:

When I run into a new 6 man sometimes none of the people with me have been there before.  How do you normally go about learning the instance?
We have struggled with this and have had to fall back sometimes on what the Google machine provides.  I would like to be more self sufficient – plus when Turbine changes things and the strategies are not updated – I need to get better at analyzing what is going on.

Do you have suggestions?  About as far as we get is changing tactics by me switching from my Captain to Guard (interrupts) or Mini for more healing output – and it usually works out worse – lol!

A methodical approach is obviously called for but I am not sure how to start.

Grinding Deeds Via Instances

altDeeds can be a pain. Even the easiest deeds in the game can become cumbersome if there’s other people around killing the same mobs you need for your deeds. However, thanks to the reflecting pool, you can create your own private instance in which you can kill the mobs therein and advance your deeds without competing with other players or disrupting other’s quest time.

Below is a list of instances that, once completed, you can access via a region’s reflecting pool, along with the deeds of that region that will be advanced. Be aware that some instances will be better for grinding than others. Also, be aware that you can only access five instances per hour. Choose wisely.

This week’s poll asks for your primary motivation for running a dungeon. We understand there could be many reasons for you to group up to complete a dungeon but we are curious as to what is your main driving reason for doing so.

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

Need to elaborate on why you selected what you did or perhaps your answer wasn’t one of the selections? Feel free to leave a comment and add your thoughts!

episode59In this episode we discuss our first run of Glinghant. This didn’t go so well for us with some issue with re-spawning ghosts.

We also made our first visit to the Turtle, another first for us. A very successful and smooth run. Goldenstar even got a First Age Weapon!
