In this episode we talk about the Fall Festival, account security with Turbine, warden bugs, pumpkin carving and crackers!
This week Merric and Goldenstar did some skirmishes with the Monday Dum group. Merric admits to being a horrible warden and Goldenstar is lagging behind in level.

Introducing himself yesterday to the forums was a developer, “Kelsan”, who will be focusing with Orion on upcoming PvMP updates. Aside from introducing himself to the community at large, Kelsan is looking for as much feedback from the PvMP community at large as possible. Or course he’d also like those providing feedback to supply as much data as possible when supplying feedback as well. For example, stating that Wargs enter the battlefield with a slow stealth and have to work their way up in comparison to Burglars who start off with a much faster stealth puts beginning creeps at a greater disadvantage would be more constructive than “N00b stealth sux! FIX IT!!!!1”.
But most interesting of all was his inclusion of a rough “PvMP Manifesto” that includes an admittedly vague outline of their goals for these changes:

Turbine has been coming up with different plans to give away some free Turbine Points like last week’s Twitter Contest.
This week you can win 250 Turbine Points by posting an introduction on the official forums. That’s it. Pretty simple!

September 8th was the day that Turbine took down their web sites to unveil their brand new lotro.com and community pages. I for one was excited. I was eager to see what sort of new features and options we’d have with the new community site.
Unfortunately the great unveiling didn’t go as smoothly as everyone would like. The sites were giving error pages, slow to open, blogs were empty or formatted goofy, permissions were messed up and profiles were all kinds of goofy. It had people annoyed, frustrated and even angry over the poor transfer to the live sites. However I’ve been able to notice improvements such as the site working much smoother and search results actually opening working pages which wasn’t happening for me earlier.

This week both of us attended the Wildlore Block Party even if we didn’t attend together. Goldenstar found a long lost hobbit relative who looked very similar to her! Hi Flisk!
Merric is working on getting his captain to 40 with the plan of doing the books. He is reconsidering his plan and going to Evendim and finishing the books later. He also went with Veneration to Sword Halls for a live broadcast on TheLotroNetwork.com.

Sapience is letting us know about a planned forum pruning to happen next week Tuesday, June 1st.
The LOTRO forums will be pruned on June 1, 2010. Any thread that has not been active in the previous 90 days will be deleted. If you are aware of a guide, resource or other informative thread that should saved, you can do so by making a relevant post into that thread. This is not an excuse to bump any and every post. The community guidelines regarding bumping will still be in effect. Choose wisely!

“Tell the Community Team” is where Turbine asks for the players to give them direct and specific feedback about a specific topic. This is really a fantastic opportunity for you to give your thoughts and opinions about the game directly to Turbine to think about.
These “Tell the Community Team” questions focus on PAX East. They have three questions they are looking for you to give them feedback on:
- Will you be attending PAX East? (If so, come by and say hi!)
- If you could meet any member of the Dev Team or “Blue Name”, who would it be?
- Excluding Legendary Items and Radiance gating, what topics would you ask about if you were the Community Team? Pick TWO (2). Yes, this is where you get to tell us what you’d like us to ask you about.

Recently, there was a post on the forums that although atypical for the LOTRO forums (as far as my experience goes) is fairly typical for most gaming forums; especially MMO’s. How is it typical? Well, for those of you who do not want to pollute your mind with meaningless drama and crud, I’ll go into a somewhat brief description.
The title is “@Orion” and the message is simply, “How goes the North Down’s revamp.” For those who don’t know, this was answered in a blog post by Orion in late January, stating that he is no longer working on the North Down’s revamp and has been moved to other projects. Once informed of the situation by another player, the author responded with the single-word reply “Fail” . However, once Orion actually responds to this post, the post is hijacked by those who begin to discuss how the game is awful, how it’s changing from its original design, how nothing is good anymore, that people are leaving in droves, and basically that everything is poop. When others fire back that they do not share the same views and that perhaps those complaining should find a different game, some of those complaining use the justification of how they love the game and wouldn’t spend all this time telling everyone how much it sucked if they didn’t. Bull-poopy.

It hadn't really occurred to me before, but I was struck recently by a huge difference between the European (Codemasters) and Stateside (Turbine) forums: there is almost no discussion of tactics on the CM forums. Which is quite strange, when you come to think of it.
By far the most popular sub-forum on the Turbine forums is the one called
"Instances and Raids". Though it shelters a certain amount of grumbling and nit-picking, it also includes a lot of careful and serious debate about the strategy and tactics of the principal raids. Currently, there are several well-established threads about the Barad Guldur 12-man raid; one of them,
"BG Strategy - Gauntlet and Boss 1 (Durchest)" includes 133 posts, many providing either detailed tactical proposals or feedback on possible changes since the latest patch. For a characteristic example of a recent post, see the illustration, above. Read the rest of this entry »

- If you could have the developers focus on one feature (new or existing) what would it be?
