Turbine is once again doing LOTRO Store specials during the month of December. Instead of daily specials with a new item on sale each day, it looks like this year they’ve picked a few items and they will be on sale over the weekend.
These specials typically hare higher than average sales for items and it looks like this year they’re not taking changes with sneak peaks of upcoming sales but having a single listing that they will update.

I’ve been doing a bit of T2 ToO progression runs recently and I’ve come to the reaslisation that I enjoy the trash pulls more than the boss fights. I think this mainly comes down to my class role, but there’s just SOOO much to do in trash fights and so many opportunities to respond to random or unplanned events that they just end up feeling more fun than the more scripted boss fights. I’ve also realised more and more that what the lore-master does in the first few seconds can have a fairly big impact on the overall fight, which is the subject of today’s post.
3… 2… 1… go!

I feel like the individual class forums on the official site all have their own personality. Burglars are resigned and melancholy, pining for the glory days when they could solo anything and abuse FMs anywhere. Hunters and RKs are the hyperactive kids, constantly (constantly! Yes, I already heard you the fifteenth bajillionth time when you said that Split Shot is bad!!) whinging about some perceived slight or another when things really aren’t so bad. Guardians and captains are the quiet ones, captains just sitting back in a contented way, while guardian’s are a little more depressed in their solitude, wishing someone would pay attention to them. Wardens are (usually) depressed too, but in a less quiet way, and they’ve got a manic side which is wildly overconfident.
Champions are the extroverts, self confident, brash and funny (best. post. evar. – “Minstrel carry around lutes and wear fancy hats. We need to keep them on their toes, or they will drift off and start daydreaming about butterflies, fancy hats, and butterflies in fancy hats.”). Minstrels are calm, helful, almost motherly, with an astonishing ability to roll with whatever’s happening (i’m not sure any other class would have reacted as well to a complete overhaul as they did).

I’ve been making my way through the Update 6 content over the past couple of weeks, and have finally finished off the epic story and got enough of a handle on the rest of the content to give my impressions of it. Overall, I really like what they’ve done with the Great Rivers content, including the Roots of Fangorn instance, although I am certainly hoping that Update 7 has some more raid content to tide us over until RoR because I ultimately find repeatable rep grinds fairly unsatisfying as end game content.

The winds of change are very much in the air at the moment. Not only do we have the release of Update 6, which has some nice little tweaks for the lore-master, but Turbine has posted an official class feedback thread on the forums, seeking input from players into the Riders of Rohan class changes. Based on past experience, the developers really listen to what the community has to say in these threads; basically every change in the big lore-master revision in the Nov 2010 update was lifted from a previous official feedback thread, and you should definitely expect that the responses in this thread are being closely monitored and will likely form the basis of the changes that we see in RoR. In the column this week, I’m going to briefly touch on the Update 6 changes and then take a look through some of the common threads from lore-masters replying to the official feedback thread.

Lore-mastery is a weekly column by Psychobabble of Imladris, focussing on lore-master news and end game play.
I was so looking forward to jumping on Bullroarer and trying out the new stuff. I wanted to actually get to play some new end game content, get a bit of an insight into the new gear system, take a look at the new raid and get some early tips on it, have a chance to play with some players from other servers and mix around a bit. So I downloaded the client as soon as it was available, hit the character copy, copied my LM over and waited for the “in progress” message to finish. And I waited. And waited. And waited. And then I went to bed and when I woke up…
