In this section, we take a look at the new Cosmetic Items for sale through the Cosmetic vendors that are located in the Bullroarer Skirmish camps. In order to find them, set the “Filter by Profile” drop-down menu to read “Rift Cosmetic Clothing”. These new items include a cloak, a top hat, a fisherman’s backpack and the Rift helms! All of these items are wearable by all classes (even the Rift Helms) but are not purchasable with the existing Campaign Marks. It looks like with the new skirmish “Rift Rescue” we will also be obtaining a new Campaign, and along with it a new Campaign Mark, the Lefnuilan Campaign Mark. This campaign currently only contains “Rift Rescue”, but I would assume that there will be future Skirmishes that will fall into this campaign released as Volume 3’s books are released.

Xfire is hosting their first ever Video Capture Awards, and we are going to show you how you can make your own video. Ever wonder how people record game play or even stream it live online? Well wonder no more! In this three part article we will go over recording game play to a hard drive as well as streaming it live!
Before we get started lets get a little more familiar with the terminology used in these programs.
- FPS – Contains the frame rate value for each second of the benchmark
- frametimes – Contains the time (in milliseconds) of every frame that was rendered in the benchmark
- minmaxavg – Contains the total frame count, benchmark duration, minimum, maximum, and average frame rate values.

Please note: This guide is only intended for Windows-based systems. If you have instructions for Linux and/or Macintosh systems, feel free to post a description or link in the comments.
When I was playing WoW, I came across a post on how to organize screenshots for free using Windows Powershell. I thought that this would be an excellent subject matter for LOTRO players as well, since we have so many screenshot artists throughout the community. So I’ve gone ahead and modified the screenshot script for WoW, created one for XP and another for Vista/Windows 7, and created this guide. Now don’t let the length of this article frighten you off. Setting this up is fairly easy although it may take a little time and it takes absolutely no scripting knowledge whatsoever and it’s absolutely free.

OK…. So I’m not really sure if this counts as being “Outside LOTRO” or not, but it seems to qualify in my mind, because even though it’s something that’s used within LOTRO it’s something that’s created outside of the game. In my mind, this sounds like a rational enough justification to write an article about it!
So what are User Interfaces? Well, they are “skins” that can be used to customize the user interface within LOTRO. For those of you who have played World of Warcraft and have use “mods”, these may seem somewhat familiar in their nature, but they do not add functionality; just personality using aesthetics. In their most technical of terms, they are image files tied together and positioned by an XML file (SkinDefinition.xml) which will override the game’s default settings once selected in the User Interface section of the Options Menu.
In order to better explain them I have created two videos to show how to install and manage User Interfaces. If you have any questions, feel free to post them here and either I or someone else will be happy to answer them.
