It feels like a long time since I have written a post, so I thought that I would keep you updated on what the Khazad Guard have been doing. Our main Dwarf trio, Izbaruk, Haki and Forest finally got to 75. It only took 3 years, but it was a journey that we thoroughly enjoyed. We dinged just as we got to Forthbrond in the quest chain, so there’s still plenty to explore as a trio, and the Reputation with the Riders of Theodred still to get.

I have been particularly lucky in the lotteries lately and was very excited to see that I had won the new store exclusive mount on one of my main characters, Haki. And if I do say so myself, the Fleet Footed Goat is absolutely stunning. I know that I have said in the past that I objected to the 2k Turbine Points for the store exclusive mounts, but with this one I could have been seriously tempted. I could still be persuaded to treat some of my other alts to it. It’s very eye-catching in its simplicity – all over bright, pure white, with elegant metal wings and spiral motif, accentuated with what appears to be turquoise gemstones. Just the ticket for the heir to the Khazad Guard, descended from the Broadbeam Dwarf Lords of old. Adam was extremely jealous when he saw it, especially as he entered me in the lotteries when I was having a late sleep on Sunday morning. First I knew of it was when I checked the lotteries at lunchtime and saw that Haki had won. I know for a fact that if Adam doesn’t win it in a lottery he will be purchasing this for Izbaruk. Like the other store exclusives it is one of the fastest and sturdiest mounts in-game, with 68% run speed and 250 morale, and like all store exclusives, this goat will only be available for a limited time. I’m not sure when this will be going live in the store, but my guess would be soon. My advice is to keep checking those lotteries, and in the meantime go grind some TP’s, because this would make a perfect christmas present for all your favourite alts!
I could stretch this out a bit more, but I’m sure you all want to see some screenshots, so here goes!

Got to say that I love the lotteries! As an EU player they still have the novelty value, and both myself and Adam check them regularly on all our accounts. So far we have been pretty lucky, but this last weekend Adam came away with a Worn Symbol, and I got a shiny new horse on two of my alts. The lucky ladies were Emsibelle, my little Hobbit Tank, who won the Steed of the Guardian in a Guardian only lottery, and Fearien, my Elf Loremaster, who won the Cremello Steed. I was pretty excited, and had to rush off and design new outfits to match.
When I first saw the Cremello Steed on A Casual Stroll to Mordor back in March, I wasn’t sure that I liked it. But when I saw it come up in the lottery, I entered it anyway. It is actually quite a difficult horse to outfit with I thought, as it has quite a busy pattern on it and the reds and blues on it can be difficult to replicate on some items. Cosmetic LoTRO have recently done their excellent version of a matching outfit for this horse, so I decided to do my own something simple and elegant suitable for a noble Elf lady.

Adam has done a series of posts looking at some of his cosmetic outfits, and I thought it time that I joined in. Having got our first characters to 75 a few weeks ago (we meandered to 75), and looking at every quest reward and crafted item for both its stats and cosmetic value, I had a lot of choice. The designers with this expansion have gone to town on cosmetics, and as a result I had a vault full of stuff that I liked the look of. Saying that, it can be very difficult to outfit a Dwarf – the proportions do not lend themselves well to many outfits which would look great on one of the other races. Dwarfs have thick, slightly bowed legs, large forearms, broad shoulders and a thick chest, and often depending on the build, a paunch too. All of this means that many armour and cosmetic items distort too much as they are stretched to fit the Dwarf physique.
I’ve always struggled to find an outfit on my legion of Dwarfs (other than the Khazad Guard Uniform) which I really like, but now utilising the new armour quest rewards and new Tier 7 crafted items, I’ve found one that I’m pretty happy with. Most of the new quest rewards in Rise of Isengard have a medieval feel to them, which suit the bulky Dwarfs, although beware of some of the helmets- while they look good they completely remove the facial hair of the wearer. Now who wants to play a beardless Dwarf?

We were exploring the Dunbog the other night and came across a very exclusive Spa for pigs. Here, members of the Boar Clan would pamper their porcine friends with facials, trottericures and massage. Judging by the look on the pigs face, it was highly appreciated. I wonder if there is a Dwarf Spa nearby?
Congratulations!

I’ve just realised that its been a while since I’ve written a post, real life has been a bit hectic recently, but things are settling down nicely now. We had been on a bit of a craft-athon in real life, making a few bits for a re-enactment fair and trying to get a little holiday money together. Thats done now, and Baby Dwarf has obliged by sleeping through again (he’s just had his jabs, perhaps that’s what to thank) so we’ve had a little time to ourselves to sit down ad have a bit of a sort out on LoTRO.
We’ve decided to put levelling the Loremasters Feaglin and Fearien on hold for the time being while we refine our other Duos, Ganin and Azaghar of the Khazad Guard, and our first characters, Elgalandir and Azbarak, who are in our other kin. This is to make sure that they are both ready to explore all the new regions with the Rise of Isengard, which we have already preordered.

At the beggining of the month we posted some player submitted pictures of some of their inspiring shots of dwarveness. Unfortunately, our gmail account was not correctly forwarding all our mail to our personal accounts, and two player submitted entries were missed out by accident. It was only last night when I went to check why a middle earth network verification was not arriving that I saw a host of mail I had not ever read, and amongst it these two fine entries. So our humblest apologies to you both not showing your submitted pictures. Here they are now:
The first is Skarvi of Eldar, our fellow Khazad Guard member, and a fine Champion. Skarvi Smoking his pipe in the Trollshaws!
