The Wold is being overrun, the riders are being outflanked, Saruman’s army is growing ever vigilant, Edoras is in peril, the kings strength is failing, it is time to retreat to the refuge of Helm’s Deep.
This year Turbine gave us the honor of yet again getting a behind the scenes look at Turbines new expansion to their popular MMO Lord of the Rings Online! CSTM had the unique opportunity of receiving a guided walkthrough of western Rohan and Helm’s Deep. Not only did we receive the traditional media overview of Rohan but we were also able to split off into two different groups of press to get two similar but still uniquely different walkthroughs of the game.

Turbine has a press release announcing their 5th expansion for The Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) for November 18, 2013.
Featured highlights for the expansion:
- Experience the Battle for Helm’s Deep – Fight to defend Helm’s Deep starting as early as level 10, when your character enlists as a soldier in the Battle of the Hornburg, the most epic conflict yet in The Lord of the Rings Online. Earn rewards for your contribution to the war effort – win or lose, your skill makes a difference!
- Explore new landscapes across Western Rohan – Explore the Westemnet of Rohan and rally each of the five ridings as Rohan returns to glory. Traverse the capital of Edoras, mysterious Dunharrow, and the fortress of the Hornburg within Helm’s Deep.
- Advance from levels 85 to 95 – Experience 10 new levels, from 85 to 95, with new skills and completely updated class specializations. Both mounted and un-mounted combat will challenge you as you war against the evil forces of Saruman.
- Continue the Epic Story – Encounter beloved characters such as Aragorn, Éowyn, and Éomer. Restore King Théoden to his rightful throne while you defend the peoples of Rohan at Helm’s Deep.

Today Turbine’s Customer Service Manager, River, came to the forums to announce a new policy regarding rank farmers in PVMP that is effective immediately.
“Rank Farming” is officially defined as the intentional surrender of your character to an enemy; resulting in a purposeful defeat and a gain of Infamy or Glory to increase rank. Rank Farming is specific to Ettenmoors PvMP (Freep vs. Monster Player). The enemy can be controlled by any player – either the same player controlling the surrendering character, or someone else.
Participation in Rank Farming is an abuse of our game mechanics, and against our rules. Customer Service can identify this behavior and will take the appropriate action on both accounts involved, based on our findings. This activity can also be reported to the in-game staff for review.Read the rest of this entry »

Summer Festival Extended
Due to the unexpected connection outages that some LOTRO players experienced over the weekend, Turbine is extending the LOTRO Summer Festival though to next Monday to give those who needed some time to collect tokens to buy up the goodies they want before the festival shuts down for the year.
