I just wanted to send out a HUGE thank you to Fyurae from A Tale of Two Hunters Blog (and the Mordor or Bust Podcast) for re-posting this piece of wonderful scripting from the LOTRO main forums. Essentially what this piece of Java script does is rework the lottery interface such that it is actually possible to see what you’re entered for and what you’ve won. I have way too many alts to cycle through and this interface makes it pretty idiot proof, which is great for me. And if you’re not a Firefox user, follow the links in the Forum post for how to add it to Chrome or IE. I will admit, the Chrome setup is a bit easier but that’s just me
It is interfaces and tweaks like this that make me so excited for the launch of the Lua scripting capability in LOTRO!

Both of us have attempted our first try at Sammath Gul and we made it to the second boss before things went bad. Goldenstar feels a bit responsible for not being able to heal everyone. We briefly discuss small changes that may make the encounter easier.
Goldenstar and Merric attempted to duo the Rift skirmish and did not do well on the final boss. Azz said he thought we could do it together and he was right so now Goldenstar has finished Volume 3 Book 1. Yay!

Poor Merric is super sick with “Baby Plague” but we keep on podcasting anyway!
This week we try one of the old Angmar Battle Instances, Battle for Aughaire. We found it to be very skirmish like for being a regular fellowship quest. We think at least the one we ran would make a great skirmish in the future.

April 15th in the United States is the day our federal (and for most people state) taxes are due. Turbine had “Tax Refund Lottos” running this week due to this fact. This was a pretty cute way to incorporate this generally grumpy day with something fun.
Goldensun, my minstrel in Cor Pethroni on Brandywine, was a lucky winner of the Tax Refund Lottery! I won 75 silver and a scroll of renewal. Even better I thought was the message that was included in my winning mail.

This week we duo The Battle in the Tower and have issues with the Frigid Squall lieutenant. Yes, I understands that the Frigid Squall is supposed to switch targets but chasing me around the room isn’t exactly “switching targets” and so I blame Merric.
We also started working on our journey to finish Volume I and are working on Book 10. Nothing really wrong with book 10 except for the extremely annoying habit of it forcing you to travel back and forth from Annúminas to Tinnudir repeatedly. Our faction with the Wardens of Annúminas is not great enough for them to allow us to use their stable point so we’ve been swimming it. At least the mobs in Annúminas do not aggro us so let us count our blessings.

Codemasters
The LOTRO-Europe folks are celebrating “Bullroarer Took Day” with a screenshot contest. Two winners will be selected (there are two categories) and will be added to the Bullroarer Took Day Screenshot Gallery.
For full details on the screenshot categories, the rules and even some tips on taking screenshots, visit the Codemaster’s page. Seems like a fun little thing to do with a group of buddies. Especially the “Most dangerous party location” category!

We mentioned back on Episode 28 that the LOTRO Lottery was having issues and was suspended until a fix was developed. Well today is the happy return of this my.lotro.com system!

In this episode, we discuss our first run in a duo skirmish. We had very differing views of the duos but overall I believe we both think they are a great addition. We discuss the mobs we ran into and the new Leech-Warden lieutenant.
Goldenstar’s runekeeper is 16 and Merric’s minstrel is now level 26. Merric has started the Volume III, Book 1 quests and is not going as quickly as most people are talking about because he’s choosing rewards rather than the quick travel options.

Lord of the Rings Online servers will be down on December 15, 2009 from 4am Eastern Time to 4pm Eastern Time (All time zones: Start Time, End Time). “That’s a ridiculous downtime” I can hear some people saying (Ok, I can’t really hear anyone saying that… but you get my drift right?) – well, this downtime isn’t just for a patch or hot fix… Turbine is upgrading the hardware that the game runs on!
(NOTE: Times provided are for reference purposes only – actual times may change with little to no notice. The start and end time links above take you to TimeandDate.com and show a list of all time zone times according to that day/date/location combination)

Some good news on the lottery front:
Beginning Monday, November 23 we’ll be holding our LOTRO lotteries on a more predictable schedule! Instead of a daily drawing for a few trinkets, new lotteries will take place over several days to give everyone a chance to enter. These lotteries will also award better loot!
