Introduction
Update 2 (Echoes of the Dead) is now available for testing on Bullroarer. This is an update many have long awaited. It includes Volume 3 Book 3 of the epic story, the removal of radiance, an update to the legendary item system, level 65 first-age legendary items, five new cap-level dungeons, and a revamp of Volume 2 of the epic story. The latter is the item of most interest to the skirmisher, as the Volume 2 revamp includes converting the battle instances in Chapter 2.5.5 into skirmishes.

I’m excited to become a columnist here at LOTRO Reporter as I love listening to the podcast and it gives me a different audience to focus on. For my first post here, I thought I’d step back a bit from my blog which is more focused on the end-game and write from a broader perspective. I will certainly cover some higher level content but at first I’m going to focus on getting started with the class as it is quite a different animal from the other classes currently in LOTRO. For those of you who want to know more about me, I just updated my About page on my blog with some more information such that I can jump right into the main topic.
Now the Warden class is one of the two new classes added with the Mines of Moria expansion and I think has been one of the more mis-understood classes in the game. For many reasons (which I won’t go into now) there are many misconceptions surrounding the class and that was one of the primary drivers behind me starting my blog. My focus here will primarily be on helping folks as they level their Wardens and progress through the various stages of their development.

So, you’ve got one day left before Siege of Mirkwood comes out and you’re wondering: What am I to do on this last day of pre-SoM content? Well, here are a few ideas:
1) Try to get a group together for Garth Agarwan. With the changes comming to the Lone Lands, GA will no longer be the same instance that it has been since launch. It would be a great experience for you to run it now, with the old, 6 man content, and then run it again in a couple of days, as a couple of 3 man instances and a 6 man.

I’m glad 2 High Road posted Conquering the Hall of Mirrors!
The only time Hobbit attempted Hall of Mirrors was during an interminable rotation with 1 person anchoring the 3-man, and 5 of the rest of us taking turns as the other 2 players in the instance.
We were all Defenders of Amon Sul, so it was not as traumatic as a PUG, but it was no fun walk in the park either.

A quick post to direct you towards Ten Ton Hammer’s video interview with LotRO boss Jeffrey Steefel. Its 40+ 14 minutes (and now works!). The video provides a ton of clarification to the confusion of the expansion press release. Additionally you get sneak peeks of:
- Dol Goldur (cool raid, but he states that you “will need a tonne of radiance to get through here”)
- Mirkwood (mist/fog in creepy woods!)
- maps (looks big, but could be deceptive)
- travel route to Mirkwood (boat from Lothlorien-Mirkwood)
- mount system (you can talk to NPCS from your mount and visually-emote from your horse!)
- shared storage (via Vault keeper)
- combat is more “punchy” (class moves over-riding auto-attack)
- legendary items (4th runic slot is for craftable runics!)
- skirmishes (each player creates just one skirmish NPC-partner which are highly customisable; skirmishes you enter from anywhere in the world;l you gain skirmish points for participating and completing tasks which can be used to upgrade your NPC-partner)
For now that is all I can share as the video cut off, but it is worth watching yourself: http://www.tentonhammer.com/ (then find the video sneak peek; direct linking doesn’t work)

I wanted to handle this as a separate post because it brings up larger questions. First, though, why didn't we see Rohan? I think we need to look at the development pattern we saw post Moria. Book 7 released the whole of Lothlorien which was supposed to be included with the Moria expansion itself. Book 8 included quite a lot of work in fixes for Moria content. Neither were devoid of Moria slippage content, but it did indeed affect the release schedule. We've had two Book updates from November to (guessing SoM release) November whereas we saw three in the previous year.
Like I said with
the announcement post, this is Turbine keeping their promise for one expansion per year. Will this be something we'll see more often in the future? I don't know. I think it's a tool in their box they can pull out when needed. Perhaps we'll see a retail expansion every 1.5 to 2 years with one of these "digital expansions" in the middle. Honestly, that seems a more reasonable schedule than producing one large expansion on the scale of Moria per year. And even with the year and a half from release to Moria, there was some content that didn't make it to MoM.
