Outside LOTRO: Tolkien Readings on YouTube

I found an article on the Tolkien Library web site about YouTube videos springing up recently showing people reading Tolkien’s works and it struck me as very interesting.

I love being read to and sometimes just sit in while Merric reads to our own Baby Hobbit. It honestly would never cross my mind to look for such a thing on YouTube. Just in case you think like me, I wanted to let you know that there is stuff like this out there!

The Nidget Blog

Nidget I’ve been reading Nidget’s blog for probably over a week now and I’m positively addicted. Nidget has a real talent taking what he did in game and turning it into a funny and completely entertaining story. He can take a quest that we’ve all done (and may have skipped the quest text) and works magic on it.

His posts are completely in role-play and written in journal style as if just recording what he did that day. He doesn’t claim to a brave adventurer looking to save the day but just a Lore-master looking to study his scrolls and make a some coin. It’s really brilliant.
