It seems that many of my fellow Lotro bloggers and players are currently in a state of Lotro fatigue, and have put the game on hold, or their blogs on hold. Even the forums have been relatively quiet lately. Much of what used to be a bustling community seems to have come to a pause, as if everyone is holding their breath and waiting for what is to come.
My own gaming activities have slowed somewhat, but only slightly. I am trying to get my third character to 95 now, and finding time to play with lower level alts as well. This game is so huge and beautiful, that I will always find a place to enjoy myself as I have alts at all levels in all regions. Nevertheless the quieting down of the creative buzz within the community does not pass unnoticed.
However unsettling this all may seem, I think it is actually a good and much needed thing. With the latest reduction of staff at Turbine and Aaron “Rowan” Campbell having taken back the Helm (pun intended), interactions between Turbine and the player community seem to have become more intimate and personal. I enjoyed myself a lot at our server’s “take the Hobbit to Isengard” event and I think the life-stream talks are doing the community a lot of good. I could focus on all the things that I feel sad and angry about regarding Lotro but instead I rather choose to focus on that which I enjoy. So there, another outfit, as outfitting is still my passion. And there are still pieces around that I have never used in an outfit, just waiting to find the right match.

It was said by Gimli that there are few dwarf-women, probably no more than a third of the whole people. They seldom walk abroad except at great need. They are in voice and appearance, and in garb if they must go on a journey, so like to the dwarf-men that the eyes and ears of other peoples cannot tell them apart.

Clad in mail, never clinking

While Frodo and the other Hobbits rested at Rivendell after the ordeal at the Ford of Bruinen, Elrond the Halfelven sent forth scouts into the wild to prepare the way for the Ringbearer and his companions. Elrond’s sons, Elladan and Elrohir, rode over the Pass of Caradhras and down the Silverlode to bear news of the quest to Lórien, and they were said to be the last of the scouts to return to Rivendell. Other scouts sent forth by Elrond scoured the lands around Rivendell, some passing north beyond the Hoarwell into the Ettenmoors; others down the Greyflood as far as Tharbad; others east over the Misty Mountains and others still into the south.

Flame of friendship

In the rugged moorland between the Rangers’ hidden fastness of Esteldín and the Dwarves’ mining-outpost of Othrikar is a rocky height upon which is built a beacon. Stone pillars support a roof over carefully stacked kindling, ready to be set alight should any danger threaten either the Rangers or the Dwarves. At need, a signal fire visible from the Kingsfell beacon can be lit in either settlement, alerting the beacon-keeper of impending peril.

Players have addressed me with questions regarding the mannequin outfits which I would like to answer in this post, hoping to clarify some issues that players seem to be concerned about.

1. Why did the mannequin outfit prices go up from 20mc to 50mc?
Answer: my best guess is that the original price of 20mc was incorrect. Mannequin outfits used to cost 775TP before update 9, which is closer to 50mc than to 20mc. In my opinion, the price of 20mc for an entire outfit was too low compared to other outfits in the store.

Defender of the golden eaves

To the Elves, the Golden Wood of Lothlórien was a beautiful haven utterly unstained by evil, but to the mortal Men of Rohan who dwelt to the south, it was a fearful place shrouded in superstition. Dwimordene they called it, and in their tales filled it with figments of sorcery, phantoms and apparitions. Great was their mistrust of these fay beings and of the Sorceress of the Golden Wood, a weaver of nets and delusions that could ensnare the unwary. Indeed, Lórien was a perilous realm, for within it was the power to change the hearts of those who entered. But as Samwise perceived, the only peril to be found in the Golden Wood was that which the visitor to that land brought within himself.

Lady of Andúnië

At the noontide of the realm of Númenor in the Second Age, a Shadow fell across the island. Sauron, Enemy of the Free Peoples of Middle-earth, had surrendered to Ar-Pharazôn the king, and was brought thither as a prisoner. But through his subtlety and deceits, Sauron gained the favour and trust of the king, and was made his advisor. He turned the king’s prideful heart toward the Dark, whispering that if Men were to build a fane and give to Melkor their worship, they would be freed from death, the Doom of Men. Ar-Pharazôn was thus turned against the Valar and the Elves of Valinor, but there remained in Númenor some who would not betray the West. These were called the Elendili, the Elf-friends, and they remained faithful that death was not an evil, but rather the Gift of Men. But they were opposed by the King’s Men, who in their folly would seek to wrest deathlessness from the Undying Lands.

She did not fear the fate of Men
