Tolkien created a number of different alphabets to write his languages – he modelled Cirth on Anglo-Saxon and Norse Runes. Its function in his stories is for inscriptions in wood and stone, just as Runes were used in the real world.
There may be a lot of controversy about the existence of the Runekeeper in Lotro, but I happen to love the class. Unfortunately I made my elf too skinny when I created her, and usually have to find some bulkier clothes to fill her out. This robe is perfect for her. On top of that, it is a really nice robe for a runekeeper as it has a tiny satchel attached to the back.
I finally found the head piece that belongs to the Cel-crus set! I used it here as a hood to complement this robe. The hood did cause some bug in my dressing room, garbling up the colours of my cloaks and presenting itself with the wrong graphics, which I have reported. However, contrary to the chest piece, this hood dyes normally and can be used on all characters as far as I can tell.

The end-game gear treadmill has started anew, so it’s time to start sitting down and working out what pieces you should be shooting for. I won’t be talking about armour in this post, both because I’ve discussed the raid armour set in a previous post, and because I haven’t yet had the time to work out the best way of mixing and matching set pieces with random drops. I’ll probably do a later post updating this one when I get the chance, but for now I’m focussing on non-armour pieces. Also, while the discussion here is specifically aimed at lore-masters, most of the stat priorities are the same for each of the 3 tactical classes so the gear discussed here should be basically the same as for minstrels and rune-keepers.

We are only a few days from Rise of Isengard and we have quite a lot of Isengard information to share this week!
This week Goldenstar admits to being the worst burglar in the world. Her burglar is still level 46 and enjoying dungeon-ing with her Monday Dum group.

Well Zombie Columbus has been teasing us for a while about this diary, and apparently he was determined to not let Orion show him up as he released a massive 7 page Developer Diary today walking through the Rise of Isengard changes for Rune-keepers.

Today Zombie Columbus was nice enough to post 2 threads soliciting questions from the community with regards to these classes that haven’t had their Developer Diaries released. Not a big focus for me, but I know there are lots of folks out there that play those classes. ZC isn’t claiming he’ll answer everything, but does seem like a valiant effort!

Moving on to our next article in the series, Rune-keepers will be our featured companion. Originally I wasn’t going to include them into the support classes since most RKs tend to favor the DPS generating portion of their attunement bars. After considering how I play with my Rune-keeper I thought they might still be pertinent to the discussion. Let’s lay down the scenario, you’re in a group with a Rune-keeper and (s)he probably won’t think to ask if they can help out. It’s just hard-wired into the personality of a Rune-keeper. They’re a little crazy and they know it; so don’t get after me for writing it out :P.
/Ignored – Basically, no real strategy at all. Let everybody do their own thing. It’s sometimes the easiest and most agreeable way to get along with your fellowship. Although I doubt you’d bother reading the article if this was all the advice I was offering up.

Well, it’s been a little while, hasn’t it? I hope you’ve all been perfecting your craft as a Rune-keeper since last I wrote. We’re finally getting around to talking about a very important component of any class: traits. Thankfully, Rune-keeper traits are generally pretty cut-and-dry. If you want to heal, you fill most of your slots with Benediction of Peace traits. If you like to DPS, you pick either Solitary Thunder or Cleansing Fire traits. And then you cross-pollinate a little with traits from other sets to suit your playstyle. If you’re having trouble deciding on which traits to choose, read on! What follows is my personal take on every individual trait in our major trait sets: which ones shouldn’t be missed, which ones fit more specific situations, and which can be safely ignored.

For the past couple of weeks I have been branching out for a bit from LOTRO mainly from a lack of dedicated time. Not that I don’t have time available but that time is frequently and without warning interrupted which makes it very hard to do some of the things I enjoy in LOTRO, like raiding and group content. Because of this I’ve been shifting a bit from my normal play style in LOTRO to some other avenues. This has also been part of the reason for a lack of activity here as I just haven’t had all that much to write about. But for now this just feels like a little bump in the road.
Inside of LOTRO this has included a lot of the spring festival and the Ale Association quests. I’ve also been running a fair number of skirmishes but those can require attention depending on what skirmish and tier I’m attempting. And I’ve also been running around with my baby RK who just dinged 22. I’ve been enjoying the new Lone Lands area quite a bit as it is a MUCH better flow from Bree, although for an RK it is a little dis-jointed. The transition along the book epic lines was great as it takes you straight from Bree to Candaith and for me I was around 20ish before finishing off book 1 as I had done a number of other things in Bree. The issue I ran to on my RK was the level 15 class quest for RKs is there in the Lone Lands and I ended up picking up some other quests that did throw me off a tad. Nothing terrible, but I’m really trying to walk through this zone in order and I ended up with some scattered quests as I normally grab all quests I can see
