An MMO is never complete and there are some things that just don’t get corrected in time for patch day. I typically find several complaints in forums and on twitter about things that Turbine knows about.
Of course this doesn’t make the fact that you’ve been faced with a bug or issue invalid. I do feel a little better with the knowledge that this particular problem is already known by the devs. Sapience posted the Known Issues list today. Check that any problems you have are listed here before submitting those angry forum posts or bug submissions!
For those curious and stuck at work, here is the known issues list in a handy PDF format.
We already mentioned that Volume III Book 1 is coming March first but we should also let everyone know that this means a little downtime for the patch!
We have included a copy of the notes in PDF format for those who are not able to reach it via the normal means. Please forgive the formatting as I am not very good at printing or editing PDF’s!
We will do an overview of our thoughts at a later time.
Turbine has released some new Volume III Book 1 screenshots of Skirmishes for us to drool over and get excited about! Check them out on our Picasa gallery or enjoy the slideshow below.
Recently, I was able to finish Volume 2, Book 9. This was in fact a fairly large accomplishment for me as I have not been one to finish many of the higher-level Books, let alone Volumes (in fact I have not finished either Volume as of yet) usually due to the group requirements that each entails. I am hoping that with the release of Volume 3, Book 1 I can finally achieve that accomplishment and eventually organize or PUG my way through Volume 2. It’s not that I don’t want to finish them, it’s just that I have not been able to at this point in my gaming. However, a large part of my ability to finish Volume 2, Book 9 was its heavy reliance upon Skirmishes instead of Instances to accomplish “epic” tasks. I whole-heartedly agree with Turbines move in this direction, although I know some people would really prefer the option to duo or fellowship through the initial Skirmish section.
Joe “jwbarry” Barry recently released a Developer Diary, looking at how Skirmishes will be affected with the release of Volume 3, Book 1. As some may be aware, we will be receiving a new Skirmish, set in The Rift where we attempt a rescue mission. And although it does not contain the full instance of The Rift, it should be a lot of fun for those who are going back or who have never been.
Sapience announced today that Bullroarer is now live with Volume 3, Book 1!
Bullroarer, the LOTRO public test server, is now live with Volume III: Allies of the King, Book 1: Oath of The Rangers! Be the first to try the new Duo Skirmishes! You will need to download the Bullroarer client to access the server. (Click Here) to read the preliminary release notes.
Haven’t upgraded to Siege of Mirkwood but know someone who has? Turbine is offering you the chance to try the four Siege of Mirkwood only. From February 2nd – 23rd your friend with the SoM expansion can invite you into a fellowship and allow you to play in these Mirkwood only skirmishes. No limit to the number of times you can play them, either!
“Tell the Community Team” is where Turbine asks for the players to give them direct and specific feedback about a specific topic. This is really a fantastic opportunity for you to give your thoughts and opinions about the game to the developers to think about.
These “Tell the Community Team” questions focus on the new Skirmish System that was implemented with Siege of Mirkwood. They have three questions they are looking for you to give them feedback on:
If you could make 3 changes to the Skirmish System, what would they be?
If you could add a new Skirmish to the game, what existing area or instance would you base it on?
We’d like to know what you would ask. If you could pick the questions for the Tell the Community Team, what would you ask?
This Tuesday the servers will be brought down while the first patch for Mirkwood goes live as announced by Sapience on the forums. Servers are expected to be down from 7am – 11am EST (-5 GMT). The patch notes are available for your reading pleasure.
