The primary role of the Warden is tanking, but if you haven’t done it before you may be wondering how to learn and practice tanking. Now there’s the obvious “go get in a group” answer that while true, isn’t always possible nor is it always the best option. Luckily over the past few updates and expansions, there have been a number of additions that make learning how to tank an easier process.
Deeds and Traits are probably two of the most confusing parts of LOTRO game mechanics. The concepts are difficult to grasp, and many new players cannot see the benefits of spending the time to work on their Deeds to gain their Traits. The goal of this series of posts is to de-mystify Deeds and Traits so that you can have the best character possible.
First of all, in the simplest of terms, Traits are “skills” that you equip which give your character bonuses. These bonuses can include stats, combat bonuses, or even new skills.
Deeds are accomplishments that must be completed or conditions that must be met, which when completed grant you a trait.
This week, we discuss the Patch Notes for the first patch since the launch of Siege of Mirkwood, the Skirmish Mark exploit, Korean Laws, and the conclusion to our Random Act of Kindness contest. Full show notes can be found on the Blog.
If you’ve looked around the forums lately, or if you read the messages in the launcher, you’ve most likely seen information about an exploit to the Skirmish system where players can gain more marks that intended. Apparently, players will be banned, WITHOUT APPEAL, if they are found using this exploit.
I’ve tried to find out what the exploit is, but haven’t been able to find any information. Mind you, if anyone posts the exploit as a comment, please realize that your post will be deleted as soon as I see it!
If you’re getting more Skirmish Marks than you think you should be, STOP! It’s not worth your account, and yes, Turbine will catch you.
Skirmishes are one of the key elements of the Siege of Mirkwood expansion. They add a whole new dimension to the game, and have their own “rules” and “requirements”. One of the main components of skirmishes is the use of soldiers. There are 6 soldiers for players to choose from, and sometimes this choice can be a little daunting. Which soldier do I choose? Do I take a herbalist? We all need to be healed sometimes, right? Do I take a protector? If I can keep the enemies off me, I won’t need heals, right?
This post is not meant to be a detailed look at each and every single skill that the soldiers have. Nor is it meant to be a detailed look at where the soldiers end up when you level them fully. This post is meant to help those of you struggling to find the right soldier for your character class and play style.
I’m currently working on a post about Skirmish Soldiers and their abilities, and while doing some research, I found this post which included some links to screenshots of some of the cosmetic items available to soldiers.
There are more links in posts that follow the one that I linked, so keep scrolling down and you’ll find some more.
It’s been a while since I’ve written one of these Group Leveling columns, so there is a lot to tell. As of the last post, the group was working its way through Trollshaws, completing the Epic Quests in search of the Nazgul.
We continued running around the Trollshaws, our group happened to find Bilbo’s Trolls.
This was another experience where we stopped as a group, took a couple of screenshots, talked about how cool it was, and then moved on. One of the wonderful things about LOTRO is that they have taken the lore of the game and incorporated these little elements into the game world. We continued running through Trollshaws, finding the caves for Book 4 Chapter 5 and having an overall grand time. It was a lot of fun running through the caves, as they designed like small dungeons, and that is where our group shines. We slew the trolls in the caves, and returned to Rivendell.
Found a post on the forums discussion the fact that soldier’s health bars in skirmishes disapear after a pet/runestone is called. This is a known issue, and they are working on it. You can find the original post here.
