Monday’s patch brings a lot of goodies for us. One such goodie is going to be automatically deposited into your inventory when you login. Make sure when you are finished playing for the day that you have space for your new Writ of Virtue.
If you do login a character who didn’t have space for their Writ of Virtue, do not worry.

Our latest project is a Runekeeper / Hunter combo that is level 27 and working through the Lone Lands area. The Lone Lands revamp is old news for Merric with all his alts but is a new experience for Goldenstar. We talk about where we think we will go next.
Merric does end up doing the Spring Festival after saying last week that he wasn’t going to do it at all.

The official announcement hasn’t been posted yet but Sapience has posted the scoop on what is happening with the Spring Festival and the pesky festival horse vendor, Will Peartree.
In case you’ve missed it, there were issues with the festival horse vendor that caused him to be removed from the game. This made it possible for us to collect the necessary tokens to earn the very pretty Blue Roan horse but not actually obtain it until the vendor was back in game. A patch was required to fix Will Peartree and Turbine decided to hold off to go with a regularly scheduled patch rather than a special patch just for Mr. Peartree.

There’s a post out today from Sapience explaining why the horse vendor was removed.
The issue isn’t the vendor, but the item itself. Removing the vendor, blocked access to the item and thus the issue. We could not remove the offending item from the vendor nor fix the item without a client side patch, but we can disable the vendor without a patch. That’s why we’ve taken this approach until our previously scheduled patch window.
As I’ve mentioned in other posts, we had to make a call; fix one thing now, or 20-30 things plus this thing in several weeks. Because of our release windows, doing the one thing now means pushing the other 20-30 out to an unknown period of time. We opted to add the horse issue to an already scheduled patch and make the festival and the vendor available for a longer period of time to compensate.

I’m sure many have already realized that there was an issue with Will Peartree that resulted in this festival vendor to be pulled from the game for a fix. This is the vendor that sells the Document of Mount Ownership required to buy a festival horse as well as barters your tokens to purchase the horse itself.
It appears this fix is going to take longer than expected as Sapience posted today a general timeframe for when we can expect this vendor to re-appear.

Spring has arrived and 2010 has some new events in store for the Spring Festival. This guide is here to help you discover all the fun to be had and help you earn those seasonal goodies!
The main bartering item for this event are called Spring Leaf. The quests to earn these tokens are repeatable so you can in fact earn enough tokens to get all the goodies the festival offers (granted you have enough time).
There is a deed called “Spring is Dandy” for most of these quests and completing them all will grant you the title of “Spring Dandy”.

I told you earlier this week that Spring Festival is coming! As a special treat, Budgeford posted a dev diary just on the Spring Festival of 2010.
Returning this year for certain is The Hedge Maze and the new and improved horse races. Mostly the dev diary talk about the new feature this year “Stomp-A-Shrew”.
Budgeford goes into good detail on how they had to play around to get the new system to work. Making the shrews level 65 made the lower levels miss too often. Make them level 1 and they won’t attack the higher levels. The game sounds as if it will be sort of similar to the Beer Fight of Yule only instead of a bat you’ll have boots and instead of people, you’ll be hitting shrews. Sounds like good fun!

Everyone start storing your Yule Trees and Snow Globes because the spring thaw is on the way. The new and improved festival is set to appear next week Tuesday, March 23rd (according to the Turbine Calendar). The big addition this year being the Shrew-Stomping!
I will of course be creating a festival guides for this event but it may take me a bit longer. I sort of cheated with the Yule Festival and got my advanced information from Bullroarer. That’s not an option this time around so I’ll have to gather my info on the live servers with everyone else!
