LotRO’s free to play is launching September 10th. Beta participants, current and past subscribers will be getting a headstart on September 8th. For the time being, there is a noticeable lull in LotRO. Players are taking a little break in anticipation of new content and changes coming. Some are wandering around bored with nothing to do in their favorite game.

Here are 5 things you can do while you wait for free to play to launch.

“Tell the Community Team” is where Turbine asks for the players to give them direct and specific feedback about a specific topic. This is really a fantastic opportunity for you to give your thoughts and opinions about the game directly to Turbine to think about.

These “Tell the Community Team” questions focus on Radiance & Festival rewards. They have three questions they are looking for you to give them feedback on:

  1. Visit the official thread to answer the poll “If you could make one change to Radiance, which of the following would you choose?”
  2. If you could design an all new festival reward, what would it be?
  3. Name something in game that you consider a personal goal (Example: Getting all 9 classes to 65). Have you achieved it? If not, why?

Sapience posted a sort of “Tell the Community Team” thread for the LOTRO lottery system looking for useful suggestions and feedback.

  1. If you could add any item to the lotteries, what would you add? List 3 items.
  2. Which lottery did you enjoy the most?
  3. What Holidays (real or lore based) do you think should have their own lotteries?

Also don’t forget to scroll to the top of the page and answer the poll: How often do you enter the LOTRO Lotteries?

Finally a topic that I can whole heartily jump into and really give you my detailed thoughts on! I love LOTRO but I very much love stupid little side fluff objects that MMO developers give us to play with. It’s a passion of mine and player housing definitely fits in this area.

First I want to point you to the articles that spawned the “jumping in the discussion” title of this post. You may want to read them yourself!

  1. Last week’s Tell the Community Team where the question asked what players would like improved and the response was strongly focused on housing.
  2. Fionnuala had a blog posting about her thoughts on housing.
  3. Massively’s columnist, Justin Olivetti, addressed housing in his “Road to Mordor” article.
  4. This week’s Community Team question where question two asks specifically about how you would change housing lock-out and escrow.

These “Tell the Community Team” questions focus on Priorities and Housing. They have three questions they are looking for you to give them feedback on:

  1. You are given the opportunity to move two items to the top of our priority list. Choose two of the following items and assign them either first priority or secondary priority:
    Radiance, Legendary Items, Housing, Kinships, PvMP, General itemization (loot, rewards), New Skirmishes, New Raids, Revamp old Raids/instances, Trait/deed revamp. {Additional items will be discarded}
  2. If you were in charge of revamping how housing lock-out and escrow worked, what would you change?
  3. Are you following the new Official LOTRO Twitter feed?

Sapience Our final PAX East interview is with LOTRO Community Manager, Sapience. We brought with us player submitted questions to ask him. The interview covers a series of topics including PvMP, Skirmishes, future enhancement questions and just general thoughts and suggestions. Some of the PvMP questions are repeats from the interview with Frelorn but you get to hear the Community Managers point of view on the subject!

We had a bit longer to talk with Sapience than our other recent podcasts and this interview is around 30 minutes long. We did end up getting kicked out of the exhibition hall so if we didn’t get to your question, we do apologize! Thank you to everyone that sent us a question!

We try to include and make our podcast about what you guys are interested in as much as possible. We take a lot of hints, suggestions and just down right ideas from you. Is it because we’re lazy? (maybe a little… we’re busy in RL, too!) I like to think it’s so we can give you the best darn show we can with what you care about.

With that in mind, is there anything in particular you’d like to hear us discuss on our show? If we don’t feel smart enough to answer/talk about it ourselves, we are not shy in finding an “expert” to come and help explain the topic like Azz did in episode 11. (By the way, episode 11 was listener suggested by Xaan!)
