Crafting 101: Choosing a Vocation

Recently I’ve seen a  lot of questions in the advice chat channels about crafting. How do I get started? What profession is best for my class? Where do I go to learn a craft? How do I advance my skill? What can I make with which profession?

These are all great questions, and I’m here to answer as many of them as I can! As a self professed crafting nut, I have a Supreme Master (the highest crafting level possible at the moment) in each craft, as well as Kindred status with each Crafting Guild. I’ve been known to venture off the beaten path with little to no warning (with sometimes disastrous results) just because I saw some ore or wood nearby. Crafting is one of my passions in the game, and I’d love to share some of that with you!

jewlery Our good friend Adam (El-Galandir) sent us this link to Updated Jewelry Recipes for Volume III: Book 1 and boy was he right when he told us it’s an awesome site. It’s a great way to quickly look and compare the jewelry options available including the multi-output recipes. It allows sorting to try to narrow down to just the pieces your interested in. It really is pretty stinking handy.

Crafters always appreciate it when you come to them knowing exactly what you want and can even offer some of the materials they need. The worst kind of customer is the guy who says “ I need a new ring, what can you make?” I can make all sorts of stuff but what do you need?
