So we’re back from PAX East and I think the fact that the login servers are down is a huge conspiracy to force me to edit the recordings I have. I wanted to give a little bit of a “heads up” as to what we have in the way of interviews. Some are traditional interviews, while the others not-so-traditional. Some will be strictly based on the game, while others may talk about stew.
I just wanted to let you all know what was coming and to give you a brief overview of who we talked to.
- Sapience
- Clover
- Tolero
- Frelorn
- Moribund

Posted yesterday on the official forums was an update by the Systems Team concerning resistances that monsters have in PvE. Monsters normally have have about a 1% resistance rate at low levels that slowly rises at a pre-configured rate until it reaches around 10%. However, shortly after the release of Mirkwood it was discovered that after level 43 monster resistances “…dropped down by exactly half, and stayed that way all the way to level cap.” What this means is that all tactical damage done to a monsters post level 43 was more than it should have been.
What does this mean? Well, with Book 1 the resistance rates have been fixed and they should now be at around 10% for all levels past 43. Of course this resistance can be reduced with traits, gears, and legacy options. All other resistances remain the same, considering that they were never affected in the first place. Of course if you fight monsters that are higher level, are located in specific spaces within the game, or have special buffs/natural resistances then you may find that resistance rate higher. So if you travel back to Mirkwood and discover that you’re now hitting for less with tactical skills you’ll know why.

Bullroarer will be down from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. EST today for updates. The list of updates is fairly short and appear to be mostly just little fixes rather than anything major but you can read them here. If you happen to be stuck at work with no access to LOTRO information, I’ve included a PDF at the end of this post with the notes just for you!

I will really return to the blog soon, just stuff keeps getting in the way. Expect talk about the new Dol Guldur instances, daily quests, alts, Bioware and SW:TOR, and Dragon Age.
So here’s what I’ve been doing over the holiday break:
1. Finished Dragon Age as human mage. Satisfying, but started over again immediately as Dalish rogue. Unsure whether to go dual-wield or archer, any thoughts/recommendations accepted!
2. Run Sammath Gul (6-man) numerous times, both with additional healing help and as main healer. I had my faith in my skills both damaged and then restored by fine-tuning of tactics. Who knew? Tactics can help ;p

It's been a few weeks since my last post on the Blog. SoM has kept me and a great deal of other people very busy. I have mixed feelings about different aspects of the digital expansion, but overall they are positive. I reached level 65 in a week and completed Volume 2, Book 9 in two. I am currently working my way through the various epilogues. I have acquired some new jewellery which marginally alters my statistics and have replace my level 60 1st age weapon for a new level 65 3rd age weapon. I have also changed swords, again with a nominal increase in my primary characters stats.

Today saw the release of Part 5 of the Skirmish Diaries which centered around something I’ve been anxious to see, which is the rewards that players can earn in skirmishes.
Personally, the diary sounds excellent. It seems that Turbine is really reinforcing what they’ve started off to do, which is to create a way for all players to get high level gear (but not the highest level gear) outside of dungeons. Which means there is now (hopefully) another way for players to enter raiding without having to grind dungeons as they did with Moria. However, we won’t know this for sure until we’re looking at the actual gear.

Well, it’s been a heck of a week; I’ll tell you that. Although most of you with children know what I’m talking about; heck, most of you without children do too! Not much time for logging in, but there was a little. We’re trying desperately to get the Hobbit on a regular routine so that she’ll sleep through the night and be in bed by 9:30-10:00 PM. That leaves us with the choice of either going into a coma early, or playing some after she’s asleep and spending part of the next day highly caffeinated or only partly awake. I prefer the former myself.
So here’s an update on my alts so far:
