Hobbit

Fishing got boring fast…End of Article.

Ok, so maybe I should look at things in a different way. Maybe, I should do something constructive! Maybe you should help me! That all sounds good, so lets get started!

The Hobbies came to LOTRO on the wings of some really cool changes and updates. For that reason some of us feel they are being overlooked pretty heavily. You can only fish for so long before the idea devours your soul and withers your mind to mush. That got me thinking about other games and what we consider hobbies in real life. So without much other than that quickly written explanation of random thoughts, here’s my list of “Cool, that would make a fun Hobby!” Now before I ruin your thought process with my own, write down a few of your own and send them in a comment! The best ideas will be used in a future article to be announced later!

In part III we will be looking over the options and ways to do Live Streaming LOTRO game play through a number of sources. Some of them very easy, and others… Not so much.

Throughout online gaming’s history, viewers and players have enjoyed being able to watch and learn from each other through many unique venues. The latest and fastest growing is the online streaming video. Much like the recorded and replayed options many use today, live streaming allows players to share what they see (Or what they want you to see) to an audience in almost real time! In some cases the video can be as fast a 0.2 seconds behind making it look %100 seamless. This new wave of interest has moved from live webcam and online media feeds to what we now know as Streaming Gameplay!

There are many ways to set up your stream. The most popular and efficient way is to go through a 3rd party streaming site like Justin.tv or UStream.com. These sites have features that allow you to stream live while allowing the site to record and archive footage for later use. A step up from those is the LiveStream.com community where companies like Microsoft and the ABC Networks stream television shows to custom feed scripts.LiveStream.com has tons of great features that can be integrated into making your own channel at LiveStream.com

The Developer Diary: Volume III: Book 1 Skill Upgrades was posted on the official LOTRO Website. The news of new skills brings mixed feelings to some classes and a smile to others.

One class with a big smile right now is the Hunter class.  And here’s the reason:

This afternoon I was sitting down watching The Two Towers Extended DVD, drinking a soda and munching on an Oreo and something hit me. It hit me with such force and interest that I stopped the movie and started to draw. I pulled up a map of Middle Earth and started to trace out the path where the fellowship moved. And there, in front of me was the blinding truth of our situation that until now was only a murmur in my mind.

Starting in low level areas we find ourselves following The Ringbearer complete his task of getting to Rivendell. Once we do this, we continue by following the fight through Moria and down into Lothlorien. But here things start to change…

At this point we see that the land opens up. We have more choices at this point in the game than we have ever had! The fellowship will soon come to a crossroads where we know a pivotal moment in the story of The Lord of the Rings tears the fellowship apart. Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas will find themselves fighting on Amon Hen only to find Boromir dead in an attempt to save the Hobbit’s lives. This is where everything will change…
